Mini SeriesAfter completing a mind map,
our first assignment was to create a mini series of three 5" x 7" artworks concerning our chosen theme of investigation. These are landscape paintings I will use in an animation later on. All of the pieces were made with my own imagination. Prompts:
Guiding Question: How can I make it seem like a piece connects to another one like the viewer is traveling through the environment? Done in Adobe Illustrator Processes: Pen tool was used for shapes, and gradient tool to color. Multiple layers used to add dimension. Size: 7" x 5" |
11.5" x 8" Colored Pencil

Investigation #4Prompts:
Guiding Question: How can I design a character and make a unique artwork at the same time?
Colored Pencil Processes: The basic sketch was transferred via transfer paper, and the colored pencil was blended and layered as needed, using strokes to get certain effects. Size: 11.5" x 8" |
Investigation #5Prompts:
Guiding Question: How can I make it seem like a piece connects to another one like the viewer is traveling through the environment? Done in Adobe Illustrator Processes: I used the pen tool for the shapes, the gradient tool for shading, and layers to add dimension. Size: 7" x 5" |
What ways can I make an object squash and stretch in animation, and which one is the most desired result?
How can I design a character I can use in animation, and how much detail should I use?
How can I make a character puppet in Adobe Animate, and what can I make it do?
Investigation #9
Prompt:
Guiding Question For Entire Year: How can I make art and animations that display the wonders of nature and make the viewer want to go outside to experience nature themselves? All of my artworks tend to be a mix of realism and a style of my own. A few artworks even have a more cartoonish/heavily stylized look to them too. Each artwork is stylized to fit what I wish to accomplish. More detailed artworks tend to be more realistic and have a lot more texture and detail. Less detailed works (like my animations) tend to be simple so they would be easier to work with. By working with animation, I have learned the capabilities of Adobe Animate a lot more, and I have learned of my own capanilities too. I have had to sometimes edit certain artworks to fit more with my main question. A lot of my works are also practice to prepare for something more complex later on. |
640 px by 480 px Done in Adobe Animate. Backgrounds and other assets made in Photoshop

Investigation #10Prompts:
Guiding Question: How can I use different textures and brushes to get different effects? Done in Procreate Pocket on iPhone 11 using finger Processes: I used many different brush types and a lot of hand texturing with multiple strokes. Many layers were used to get certain effects too. Size: 15.5" x 15.5" |
Investigation #12Prompts:
Guiding Question: How can I make an animated short that shows the beauty of nature? Done in Adobe Animate Processes: All the assets like the background were made in Adobe Illustrator. Each of the pieces was made into a seperate layer and would be tweened to make it seem like the lamp is coming closer to the viewer like they are going deeper into the cave. Size: 7" x 5" |
Investigation #13Prompts:
Guiding Question: How can I make an animated short that shows the beauty of nature? Done in Adobe Animate Processes: The background and other assets like the branch were done in Adobe Illustrator. The characters are drawn on a layer above the background (or branch) with black linework so they stick out more. Size: 7" x 5" |
